About

I am a software professional, musician and a scientist (at least by education and at heart, even though I haven’t been actively publishing recently) who lives in Toronto, ON, Canada. I have a number of hobbies and interests that I like to work on. This weblog is mainly an informal collection of my notes for my professional and leisure activities, such as results of my experimentation with new technologies, code samples, software architecture notes, cryptography, music theory, building projects, etc.

Not that one needs to explain why they blog in this era of Social Networking, here are my reasons if you care to read:

  • I have been using the Internet for almost two decades now, since long before most people even knew what it meant and when it still was exclusively used by a closed network of universities. I refer to the information on the net hundreds of times a day for almost everything I need; my work, my hobbies, shopping, education, driving directions, looking up the meaning of a word, or simply for fun. I thought it’s about time for me to put something back to our collective memory, regardless of how small or insignificant it might be.
  • Just like most others, I can’t seem to find my notes when I need them back after a while.  Computers crash, technologies change, back-up files get corrupted. If I’ll end up Googling everything I need (which I do a lot), I might as well put my notes on the Internet at the first place, so they are indexed and saved for me; and as a side-bonus, someone else might benefit from them too.
  • Sharing my notes publicly encourages me to do a better job of documenting them.
  • It is fulfilling to see people from all around the world visit my blog and some even leave a nice comment about it (I got a lot of spam too, but I guess it comes with the package).
  • I was told, blogging is socially more acceptable than talking to yourself.

If you are old friend of mine and trying to hookup again, I use Facebook to get in touch with family and friends.
If you are someone I did business with, I use LinkedIn to organize my professional network.
If you just want to drop me a line, comment on one of my blog entries and I’ll get them.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog.
